I built Fantascores because I was tired of losing to other people’s injuries.

For years I played fantasy football with my friends, and I never really liked it. You draft your players in August and then you’re stuck with them. Someone tears a hamstring in October. A manager gets sacked in November and the new one doesn’t pick your striker anymore. Your season gets decided by things you can’t read and can’t do anything about.

So in 2022 I stopped drafting players and started predicting scores. I built a spreadsheet — ten Serie A fixtures, a column for each of us, three points for calling the exact score and one for getting the result right — and sent it to the group chat.

What my friends liked wasn’t the scoring. It was how rapidly the table moved. One good gameday and you go from fifth to first. It’s easy to play and it’s never settled. You need to know some football, but that’s the game.

That was four years ago. We’ve played every season since. Fantascores is that spreadsheet, rebuilt so you don’t have to be in my group chat to play.

This is the first one. Serie A, 2022, the first half of the season. Ten fixtures a week, team colours filled in by hand, results typed in on Monday morning.

Fourteen matchdays later the top three were separated by three points. The best single gameday anyone had was worth thirteen. Ted led for seven matchdays in a row and lost it on the second to last.

That’s the whole game: nothing is safe and nothing is over. Fantascores scores the way it does because the spreadsheet already worked.

Nothing in the game is for sale — not points, not extra picks, not a later deadline. If Fantascores ever charges for anything it will be for organising your league, never for winning it.
Picks stay hidden until the deadline. Everyone turns over at once — you can’t copy anyone, and nobody can copy you.
Your data is yours. Export it or delete it whenever you want. That’s in your settings today, not coming soon.
Founders stay free. Any league that exists before there is ever a paid tier keeps everything it has, permanently.
